Political Alert - Gazette - Fair Work Act 2009 (FED)

Public news

Employers are required to provide all new employees with a copy of the Fair Work Information Statement. The purpose of this document is to generally inform employees about their basic rights regarding their pay and conditions. It contains important information around their entitlements under the National Employment Standards, such as leave entitlements and maximum hours of work. It provides other information including minimum pay rates, flexible working arrangements and protections at work. It also informs employees of the bodies that help regulate this area, namely the Fair Work Ombudsman and Fair Work Commission.

This information statement has been updated as of 1 August 2023 to reflect the new minimum wage increases and the commencement of the new entitlement to 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave which now applies to all businesses. Members should ensure that all new employees receive a copy of the updated statement and casual employees must also receive a copy of the Casual Employment Information Statement.
