MTA advocacy leads to launch of new campaign

Used cars are being sold privately in South Australia with serious safety defects and hidden damage without any consumer protections.

In November, the MTA and State Government launched a new campaign to remind motorists that the best way to protect yourself when purchasing a used vehicle is to buy from a licensed dealer. This initiative is still ongoing today, please contact the MTA for further details.

With 3 out of 4 used cars in SA sold privately, Minister for Consumer and Business Affairs Andrea Michaels joined former CEO Paul Unerkov and MTA member Adelaide Vehicle Centre to promote this new initiative which is the result of ongoing consultation with members.

You can visit the Consumer and Business Services website which has all of the campaign materials that will be advertised on commonly used second-hand vehicle websites and online marketplaces such as Facebook, Gumtree and Carsales.
