Jackson is currently undertaking a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30620). Growing up in a car family, Jackson enjoys getting to learn everything about what he loves at the MTA. Modifying cars is his biggest passion.
Jackson is currently employed at Reynella Hyundai and is eager to eventually move into a performance shop to work on the cars he is most passionate about.
Car:
Ford Falcon 2004 BA XR6 Turbo.
Modifications:
“I bought it completely stock and then was having issues with it. I then took it off the road and decided to go further than what I initially planned. I pulled the engine out at home myself. I then proceeded to strip it down. I then replaced the stock problematic cast steel, oil pump gears and replaced them with high quality billet oil pump gear set and billet backing plate. I also upgraded to a heavy duty timing chain kit, head studs and valve springs. That was all the internal work.”
Jackson then bought a Stage 3 Intercooler Kit along with 3 and 1/2” exhaust system with a 4-inch dump pipe to support the increase in power potential. The removal of the stock turbo and a replacement of a Pulsar GTX35-84RS. “From there, I went external waste gates (45 millimeter Turbosmart Hyper-gate) and pretty much assembled it all. I needed to upgrade the fuel system to support the upgraded components so I added a bigger fuel pump and bigger injectors (all e85 compatible). I then lowered the suspension adding BC Racing Coilovers and then took it down to Ample auto to get Tuned.”
“I made these modifications at home by myself and it was my first time doing it. I was halfway through my second year going into my third year as I was building it.”
Any plans to make further upgrades?
“It never ends… When it got back from the tuners it made 358 kilowatt, 944 newton meters of torque! From there, it’s just going to be a fully built motor, forged bottom end, probably a bigger fuel system, bigger turbo again to turn up the power a bit more!”
