In April, South Australia produced a total of 30,262 new and used registrations, representing a 3% decrease year-over-year with 1,089 less vehicles registered than in April 2018, 7% down on March.
Nationally, April produced 75,550 units, down 2.4% year-over-year.
South Australia produced 5,002 units. This is up 9.4% on March 2018 and up 29% over February.
The year-over-year comparison of March registrations from 2018 to 2019 are as follows:
- New Cars (light vehicles) down by 9% (-488) – 4,828 units
- Motorcycles down by 24% (-65) – 203 units
- Tractors and Industrial Machinery up by 2% (+4) – 175 units
- Caravans up by 4% (-8) – 199 units
- Truck and Bus up by 3% (+7) – 210 units
Used (Light vehicle) registrations (including first time registered in SA, which could be made up of interstate transfers, for example) totalled 24,928 (this includes all registrations including trade-ins, wholesale deals etc). This was 1% down Year-over-Year (-277 units) and 5.6% down on March.
Dealer sales totalled 4,948 for the month. This is up 142 units Year-over-Year (+2.9%).
In April, the private market totalled 12,957 vehicle transfers. This is down 6.7% Year-over-Year (13,886 units transferred in April 2018).
When comparing the 1st four months of 2019 to 2018 we can see that Dealer sales are on par and the private market is down by 6.2%.
In regards to motorcycle registrations in South Australia in April, there were 1,620 total registrations (new and used). This is 2% down on April 2018 (-39 units).
New registrations (at 203 units) were down 24% Year-over-Year (-65 units).
April’s Used registrations of 1,383 were 3% up Year-over-Year (+40 units) and down 9% on March.
